Abstract:The DLC film deposited on the high speed steel substrate was prepared by PVD technology with the circular arc target and linear ion source .The friction and wear behavior between DLC film and alumi-num alloy without lubrication were investigated .The result showed that the sp3 content of DLC-1 coating prepared by circular arc was up to 68, ,while the sp3 content of DLC-2 coating prepared by linear ion source was 53, .The friction coefficient between DLC film and aluminum alloy were 0 .1019 and 0 .2911 , respectively .T he main failure of the DLC film is due to spalling of film ,forming the flake of 10-20μm car-bon particles .The higher the sp3 content is ,the better performance in the friction and wear behavior show .
