Abstract:C12A7:Yb3+/Eu3+ polycrystals were synthesized by high temperature solid state method. The crystal structure and luminescence properties of C12A7:Yb3+/Eu3+ polycrystals were characterized by X-ray diffraction, upconversion emission spectra and CIE color coordinates. The experimental results showed that C12A7:Yb3+/Eu3+ could emit the green and red upconversion emissions, which are attributed to the 5D0→7F0 and 5D0→7F3 transitions of Eu3+ ions, respectively, under 980 nm excitation. Combination with the upconversion mechanism, the effect of the concentration of Yb3+ and Eu3+ on the optical characteristics of C12A7:Yb3+/Eu3+ polycrystals was discussed. Based on CIE spectra, the color coordinates shifted from yellow-green toward green region by adjusting the concentrations of Yb3+ and Eu3+ ions.
