In order to eliminate the adverse effect of pore defects in components prepared by additive manufacturing technologies such as selective laser melting and electron beam melting on the properties, and to meet the urgent needs of aviation, aerospace, medical industries for metal additive manufacturing product, hot isostatic pressing (HIP) has been widely used as an important post-processing method. The latest evaluation the effect and mechanism analysis of HIP to eliminate pores in metal parts prepared by additive manufacturing technique are reviewed. The suggestions of HIP treatment for metal additive manufacturing part are also put forward.
